Compared to the more common 80-prong whisks, the 100-prong design offers greater surface area and flexibility, allowing for quicker and finer aeration. The result? A silky, creamy froth with less effort, better mixing, and a more elegant drinking experience — especially ideal for usucha (thin tea).

Details

Crafted from natural bamboo, each whisk is unique, durable, and non-reactive. Bamboo is lightweight yet resilient, making it perfect for daily ceremonial use. Unlike plastic or synthetic alternatives, bamboo doesn’t absorb flavor or degrade with hot water, preserving the purity of your matcha.

  1. Soak the whisk’s tips in warm water for 1–2 minutes before use. This softens the bristles and prevents breakage.
  2. Add sifted matcha and hot (but not boiling) water to your chawan (matcha bowl).
  3. Whisk briskly in a “W” or “M” motion using your wrist (not your arm) until a fine foam forms on top.
  4. Rinse with warm water immediately after use — no soap needed.
  5. Gently shake off excess water and allow to air dry with the prongs facing downward or on a dedicated whisk holder (kusenaoshi) to maintain its shape.
  6. Store in a dry, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight.
